The Best Report in NetSuite (for Marketers)

The Campaign Response Report

I want to let you in on a little secret.  In fact, it’s the best kept secret for any Marketing professional using NetSuite.  There’s a customizable report that will tell you everything you want to know – about how your email campaign performed.

Building the Report

Start by navigating to Reports > Marketing > Campaign Response > Customize Detail

This should take you here:

Click on the pencil icon next to the Category 1 label to select it and then click on the Remove Column button.  This will change Campaign 2 to Campaign 1.  Click on the pencil next to Campaign 1 and click Remove Column again.  You should now be left with the Title 1 row next above the Results column.

Next, we want to add the following new Columns.  We can find additional data fields using the Add Fields options on the left side of the screen:

  • Recipient: Name (Grouped)
    • Found under Campaign Response > Recipient
      • Rename the Column Label to Contact
      • Move this Column all the way to the left so it’s nested under the Title of the Campaign
  • Event: Date Created
    • Found under Lead Source > Event
  • Recipient: Email
    • Found under Campaign Response > Recipient
  • Recipient: Email Bounced
    • Found under Campaign Response > Recipient

Click Preview to see the results.  They should look something like this:

Feel free to go back and add any other columns to customize the report with data you’d like to see here also.  Change the Title of the report to Campaign Responses or any name you prefer and Click Save.

Your New Best Friend

Voila!  You now have a Report that tells you all the people who opened, clicked through, and unsubscribed to your recent email campaign.  Update and customize the date range to show a single day, a week or a month depending on the results or how many campaigns you’re hoping to see.  This report also tells you when any of the above mentioned actions occurred by the recipient, and you can even click through right to the contact record to get more granular or make any updates to that contact.
