My First 90 Days at “The Office”

I decided to join Keystone Business Solutions as an ERP Consultant on October 1^st, 2022. My first impression of KBS was that they are a team of experienced NetSuite consultants that could provide mentoring and the tools necessary to further my career as a NetSuite Professional. And then I asked myself, how would I want to be viewed by my peers at Keystone? “Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.” -M. Scott

I remembered how tough it can be to start a new job and that I’ve been duped into awkward job scenarios in the past. I always say, fool me once, strike one. Fool me twice, strike three. I didn’t get that impression from Keystone, so it seemed like a legit place to work. From the company culture all the way to the individual team leaders, Keystone has proven that to be true.

Everyone was welcoming and friendly from day one. To give you a view into the company, picture this, it resembles a small, independent business made up of closely acquainted individuals that genuinely care about each other’s well-being and career progression in the NetSuite Solutions Provider industry. Ok, moving on…I was encouraged to schedule a 15-minute introduction call with each member of the team as somewhat of an icebreaker. There was no mention of beet farms or Battlestar Galactica from anyone, so we were off to a good start. There are a few long-distance runners on the team, so I was able to discover common interests right off the bat. But they seemed a little thrown off when I mentioned carb loading with fettuccine alfredo before a race, just kidding.

Everyone works together as a team regardless of experience or education level which is refreshing to see and much easier at a smaller company. I have found that each one of us brings something unique to the table and I’m trying to absorb as much of their knowledge as possible. I really feel like I have the potential to become the most well-rounded NetSuite consultant in the world. I wonder if they have a mug for that. Hmm…

Overall, my first 90 days with Keystone Business Solutions have been great. If I can apply what I’ve learned from repeatedly bingeing the entire series of The Office I should have a successful future with KBS. Maybe I’ll check out the British version next, to see what I can learn from Ricky Gervais.
