Employee Spotlight: Get to Know our Office Manager, Jennifer Korte!

At Keystone Business Services, our values and company culture are always at the forefront of everything we do. We strive to build a stronger sense of community and collaboration amongst our team.  A reliable employee is the best gift a leader can ask for and Jennifer Korte is that someone we can rely on.

Description Of Employee or Job Functions: As with most office managers, I handle a wide variety of tasks including AP/AR, Office 365 Administrator, onboarding new employees, NetSuite renewals, keeping track of the boss and generally being the Team Mom (But since we are professionals now, I hand out Door Dash gift cards to the team instead of the post-match Capri Suns and a bag of chips).

BEFORE WORKING AT KBS WHAT WAS THE MOST UNUSUAL OR INTERESTING JOB YOU’VE EVER HAD?

In college, I ran rats on a treadmill at the medical school for research in the physiology department.  I’ve also run humans on a treadmill for ventilatory threshold research, run a die-cutting press in a factory, organized and trained international work and witness teams, and taken drone footage of construction sites for a commercial contractor.  But the hardest and most rewarding work of my life was raising my 3 sons.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WOULD SURPRISE US.

I have hung out in the Limonada (one of Central America’s largest and most dangerous ghettos) without security but with my husband and young children and have danced with the inmates in a Guatemalan women’s prison.  I’m probably more comfortable in both of those settings than at a fancy affair at a country club.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SNACK OR JUNK FOOD?

I think homemade chocolate chip cookies are the way to anyone’s heart, so they must top the world’s best junk food list.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PROJECT SO FAR AT KBS?

While not a project as most of the team would define it, I take my role as the team cheerleader, attitude adjuster, and general encourager very seriously.  It’s my favorite part of my part-time job!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?

I love to travel with my husband, chase sunrises and sunsets, go on morning walks (despite the exceptionally rambunctious puppy that is currently my walking partner) and spend time on the lake with my family.  Capturing a photo, writing a poem, or telling a self-deprecating story are ways I like to exercise my creativity.  I also love bake cookies or cinnamon rolls to entice my grown children to come home and hang out with me.

WHAT ARE THREE CAREER LESSONS (OR SKILLS) YOU’VE LEARNED THUS FAR AT KBS?

I was mostly new to NetSuite when I joined Keystone, so I’ve learned many NetSuite user skills and tricks.

I’ve learned that you can creatively build team cohesion across the miles, even on video meetings.

I’ve gained confidence in negotiating NetSuite renewals, which is a necessary process most clients don’t enjoy, but with good communication can be relatively pain-free.

YOUR AT BAT SONG WOULD BE?

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & the Waves or Centerfield by John Fogerty (Put me in Coach…I’m ready to play 🙂
